Scouting…

That turned into a 10 minute shoot. Headed to the Pine Barrens to check out some spots with Chelsea yesterday. It was a spur of the moment decision, and I had no plan. Looking at the spots on Bing and Google maps, I didn’t think about the snow fall we’ve had lately. The first location was buried, and not knowing what was underneath, I decided against it. So what do you do when you’re in the middle of the Pine Barrens? Head to the beach.

A look back at 2013

This year was such an enjoyable experience. I am nothing short of proud of the fact. My original goal of traveling to different events was exceeded. Including taking on a wedding solo with little time to plan or meet with clients. I haven’t planned much for ’14 so far. I want to stray from Formula D and drifting for the most part. The not most part? Detroit and Lime Rock. Lime Rock for the friends, and Detroit…well because there is something great about that city. Looking back at it, I had no idea what to expect. Sure you hear nothing but bad things about it, but once you’re there you forget all the negative. I need more time to explore, more time to meet random friendly faces. (Yes everyone, be it downtown or the surrounding wasteland, everyone was friendly).

This post is going to have a part 2. I’m being hard on myself and not just throwing a bunch of photos up. The ones below and part 2 are only the photos that came out exactly how I envisioned them. Some aren’t great by any means, but to me they have me grinning from ear to ear.

Enjoy, because 2013 fucking rocked…

Recents: Denise Pt. 20,384

With winter coming soon, and the temperture dropping fast, its time to move inside. Time to refresh my off camera lighting knowledge. Cause I swear, I can’t retain it in my head for the life of me. My boom mount was broken which kept me from using my beauty dish. After some tinkering, I mended the issue. It seriously took 30 seconds ha. Always problem solving with photography. I’ve been dying to shoot lately, and with my new day job and helping friends finish a house, I rarely have time for shooting. I took a day off from the hustle and bustle of real life and shot my best friend and photo muse Denise. She’s always willing to help me with my ideas and visions. I want to start shooting more “risque” photos. Nothing nude or questionable, just simple less clothing style photos. I really wish these were outside in the world, but I like how they came out.

Recent: Detroit

Last Thursday I departed for Detroit for a Midwest Drift Union event. This was special because it was being held on actual public streets. I am still working on the photos, and missing the town still. Such an amazing event. Here is a preview of what I captured.

Uncovering Eden

A few months ago, my good friend Chelsea Lupkin wrote a script for a short film about anti bullying. Chelsea, Kevin, and myself got together to shoot her kickstarter video to acquire the budget to make this happen. After a lot of hard work, post whoring, and amazing strangers, the project made budget and more. This last weekend, the cast and crew finished shooting the first half.  I never been part of a film project and was taken back a bit by everything that is required. I live for these new experiences. The weekend was long and tiring, but totally worth it. Check out some of the photos I took below.

Say hello…

To this beautiful newly married couple.

Jon and Jess. Two people who are living their dreams working in the gaming industry. Jon and myself met up during the week to sign the contract, have a beer, and discuss ideas. Growing up with video games, my mind went crazy. So many nerdy ideas I had, and Jon was just there adding to them. The big day for these two came around, and I was excited. This was my first solo (no second shooter, no VAL, no umbrella girl) wedding. I should have been nervous. Maybe I was just taken back by how many props I had to use for the bridal party. Lightsabers, Lancer assault rifles, and even a portal gun, were all available to use. If you’re wondering, yes I did nerd out a bit. I had a blast shooting, and just so much fun in general. Here are some photos I finished. Big thank you and congratulations to Jon and Jess!

Recents

I have no idea what has happened over the last month. I have been super busy traveling and shooting. Keeping this short and sweet. Let the photos narrate.

Super pumped to be shooting a wedding completely by myself with full artistic freedom. I am going to have so much fun shooting this for these 2 beautiful video game developers. We might all nerd out. Lets hope so.

Formula D Preview Photo

Had a blast this weekend. Drove down to Atlanta to shoot Forumla D and hang with some friends. Such an amazing experience. However I did make a really stupid mistake. Always format your cards before you start over! My workflow is heavily affected by this. Oh well, here is a preview of Conrad Grunewald.
